Ajayu is an adventure and puzzle game in which the player takes on the role of Alaya, a boy who must cross the Atacama Desert to take the remains of his deceased mother to the resting place of his ancestors. At the beginning of his journey, Alaya suffers an accident that leaves him on the brink of death, causing his soul to be expelled from his body. After this incident, Alaya gains an unusual ability: he can remove his Ajayu (soul) from his body at will and thus interact with the real world as a child and with the spiritual world and its inhabitants as a spirit. This incredible ability is not only his main weapon against hostile animals and supernatural beings, but also helps him communicate with friendly animals and beings who will help them solve the riddles of the spiritual world in order to continue his journey.
Ajayu is inspired by the culture of the Aymara people, an ancient indigenous culture that inhabits the Andean highlands. In Ajayu, you will find references inspired by their aesthetics, music, and legends.
Embark on a spiritual journey with Alaya, who, with the help of his ability to control his own soul, must overcome the dangers of the world’s driest desert in order to find the resting place of his ancestors.
